Study says Friday before Memorial Day big for carwashes (Carwashing Magazine) »

The Friday of Memorial Day weekend is the biggest day of the year for auto service businesses, when Americans spend more money on their vehicles than on any other day of the year (73% more than a typical day) as they prepare to hit the road for the three-day weekend, according to a press release.

This is just one finding from new data analysis from Womply, a small business software company, the release continued.

The data science team at Womply analyzed transaction data for every day of 2018 at 26,000 local auto services businesses (tire shops, auto repair shops, gas stations and carwashes) across the country to identify consumer behavior and economic trends during Memorial Day weekend and throughout the year, the release noted.

According to Womply’s analysis, the release concluded, the Friday of Memorial Day weekend is the:

  • No. 1 sales day of the year for auto repair shops, where they average $1,840 in revenue — a 41% increase over the typical day.
  • No. 1 sales day of the year for gas stations, where they average $4,366 in revenue — a 47% increase over the typical day.
  • No. 3 sales day of the year for tire shops, where they average $1,275 in revenue — a 29% increase over the typical day.
  • No. 5 sales day of the year for carwashes, where they average $577 in revenue — a 49% increase over the typical day.
