What days of the week are retail shops in Missouri busiest?

Fridays and Saturdays are busy at retail shops across the country, and things were no different for Missouri retail businesses.

Among transacting businesses, Saturday was the busiest day of the week in terms of foot traffic, with Missouri retail businesses processing an average of 15 transactions per day.

 

Missourians spend more per transaction on weekdays, with Thursdays claiming the largest average ticket size of the week at $66.89 per ticket. Still, average ticket price remains fairly consistent throughout the week except for Sundays, when lower-ticket-item shops are perhaps more likely to remain open than higher-end boutiques.

May was the biggest month of the year overall for retail shops in the Show Me State, no doubt thanks to a huge lift from Mother's Day Weekend. The week leading up to the holiday was the biggest week of the year, and the week before that was the 3rd. Other big weeks included the week before Christmas and weeks during March and April.

 

Top 5 days for Missouri retail businesses

The Friday and Saturday before Mother's Day were the top two days of the year, underscoring once more how big the holiday is for Missouri retailers. The holiday shopping season was also big from a single-day perspective for retailers in Missouri, accounting for the third biggest day of the year.
