Womply Partners with Yup to Deliver On-Demand Math Tutoring to Employees with School-Age Children Amid Covid-19 Challenges

Partnership will enable working parents to help their children get unblocked in math and avoid falling behind amid the uncertainties of the 2020-2021 school year.

REMOTE – October 1, 2020 – Womply, the local commerce platform that provides apps, APIs, marketing, and financial tools to make local commerce happen, today announced a partnership with Yup, an on-demand 1:1 math tutoring service, to make Yup’s services available to all Womply employees with school-age children at home.

The announcement comes as a majority of Womply’s employees continue to work from home, and ongoing Covid-19 concerns have led to uncertainty and academic disruption for many K-12 students. At Womply, 42% of employees have children in the K-12 age range, which puts added pressure on parents trying to juggle work responsibilities with helping their children keep pace in school, especially with intermittent shutdowns as outbreaks occur. In fact, some educators and policymakers have expressed concerns that the 2020-2021 academic year could be a “lost year” for many schoolchildren without interventions.

“Math is foundational to a good education. Getting ahead in math can set up a child for lifelong success, just as falling behind can lead to ripple effects of unnecessary challenges,” said Womply Founder & CEO Toby Scammell. “Working parents are dealing with a lot right now, and their kids’ success in core academics shouldn’t be one of them. We’re proud to partner with Yup and offer these services to our people in an effort to take one serious stress off their plates.”

Yup provides high-quality math tutoring services in subjects ranging from basic addition to SAT prep, delivered via web browser, smartphone, or tablet. Backed by Stanford University, Yup allows students and parents to simply snap a picture of a math problem, connect with a real tutor within minutes, and start solving the problem together. The service is available 24/7.

“As more parents and students are working from a home environment, time is even more precious,” said Aaron Price, CEO at Yup. “We want to unblock students and parents when they’re stuck so they can ensure learning is taking place and then move on to other important things.”

The Yup service is available to all Womply employees as a free benefit effective immediately. Employees may direct questions to hr@womply.com.
