What days of the week are retail shops in New Mexico busiest?

Fridays and Saturdays are busy at retail shops across the country, and things were no different for New Mexico retail businesses.

Among transacting businesses, Saturday was the busiest day of the week in terms of foot traffic, with New Mexico retail businesses processing an average of 13 transactions per day.

 

New Mexicans spend more per transaction on weekdays, with Tuesdays claiming the largest average ticket size of the week at $81.30 per ticket. Still, average ticket price remains fairly consistent throughout the week except for Sundays, when they spent an average of $16.91 less than on Tuesdays.

Back to school shopping appears to really move the needle for local retailers in the Land of Enchantment. August was the biggest month of the year overall, and 3 of the top 10 shopping weeks of the year fall during late August and early September.

While August may have been the biggest month of the year overall, the holiday shopping season was responsible for the single-biggest week of the year for New Mexico retailers: December 16th through the 22nd.

 

Top 5 days for New Mexico retail businesses

The top 3 shopping days of the year all fell during the holiday shopping season, with the weekend before Christmas claiming the top two days. Back to school shopping was enough to make August 17th the fourth biggest day of the year, while the Friday before Mother's Day closes out New Mexico's top five.
