Saturday was the busiest day of the week in terms of foot traffic, with Maryland retail businesses processing an average of 16 transactions per day.

 

Marylanders spend more per transaction on weekdays, with Mondays claiming the largest average ticket size of the week at $98.23 per ticket. Still, average ticket price remains fairly consistent throughout the week except for Sundays, when they spent an average of $14.44 less than on Mondays.

May was the biggest month of the year overall for retail shops in the Old Line State, no doubt thanks to a huge lift from Mother's Day Weekend. The week leading up to the holiday was the 2nd biggest week of the year, and the week before that was the 9th.

While May may have been the biggest month of the year overall, the holiday shopping season was responsible for the single-biggest week of the year for Maryland retailers: December 16th through the 22nd.

The holiday shopping season was responsible for the biggest day of the year, and a total of two of the top five days of the year overall. And, as you might expect based on how big the week of Mother's Day is for retailers in Maryland, the Saturday before the holiday was the second biggest day of the year overall.
