Stores opening early for Black Friday shopping (Minot Daily News) »

Friday features the best revenue day of the year for retail stores according to data compiled by Womply. Retailers see around a 208 percent increase in revenue on that day as most North Dakota consumers take on the heavily crowded day to start their Christmas shopping early with a wide variety of deals.

The fact that Black Friday is such a robust day for revenue has led to many retailers opening their doors earlier and earlier. Now in the last few years, many open with Black Friday deals in the evening of the Thanksgiving holiday. The holiday season of 2018 won’t be any different with many stores opening Thursday night.

Here is a list of stores opening early and those staying closed with their opening hours for Black Friday.

The Dakota Square Mall will be keeping its doors closed for Thanksgiving, though some stores with outside access will be open. For Black Friday, the mall will open bright and early at 6 a.m.

Stores connected to the mall that will be open Thanksgiving include Target and JCPenny. Target will be opening to give customers earlier access to good deals at 5 p.m. JCPenny will be opening even earlier at 2 p.m. Other outside access stores, like Barnes and Noble and Scheels, will remain closed. The bookstore will open its doors on Black Friday at 6 a.m. Scheels will open at 7 a.m.

Not wanting to miss out on the extra revenue that Black Friday deals bring in, Best Buy will be opening up on Thanksgiving at 5 p.m. to offer a variety of deals on tech.

TJMaxx will remained closed but open up at 7 a.m. Friday.

For local shopping in the downtown area, stores will be closed for the holiday. Many will open for Friday’s shopping with some having deals and many preparing for Small Business Saturday.

Economists’ predictions for the relative level of activity this Black Friday have varied.
