Hawaii ranks in the bottom half nationally for consumer spending among local retailers in 2017, according to a new report from Womply.
The Aloha State placed 29th on the technology company’s list, which found local retailers in Hawaii bring in an average of $1,310 each day, 16.9 percent lower than the national average of $1,576.
Local retailers in Hawaii also average 11.9 transactions per day and an average ticket price of $110, compared to the national benchmark of 13 transactions per day with an average ticket price of $121.
To create the list, Womply analyzed daily revenue for 54,000 local, independent retailers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia for all 365 days of the 2017 calendar year.
The tech company said retailers were only qualified for the analysis if Womply had a full year of transaction history and the business recorded multiple transactions per day.

The data puts Hawaii between Idaho (28th) and Maine (30th) for daily revenue generation.
The report also looked at spending per day of the week.
“Independent retailers in Hawaii typically make $1,550 on Fridays, which is 18.4 percent better than their average day, and 20.1 percent lower than retailers nationally,” the report said. “On the flip-side, Sunday is typically the slowest day for retailers in Hawaii, generating only $920.”
The top three months for retail sales in Hawaii were July, August and December, compared to May, November and December, nationally.
