New Mexico restaurants have twice the reason to celebrate this month.

A new study shows that the month of May offers two profitable holidays for locall restaurants in the Land of Enchantment, according to Womply.

Womply is a San Francisco-based software-as-a-service company, according to its website. Womply’s data science team observed consumer behavior by analyzing transactions for all 365 days of the 2017 calendar year at independent restaurants throughout the country.

The widely-celebrated Cinco de Mayo (May 5) was ranked No. 78 for restaurant revenue in New Mexico out of all 365 days. On this annual Mexican holiday, New Mexico restaurant sales increase 30 percent due to a 36 percent boost in transactions. Across the U.S., Cinco de Mayo ranks at No. 36 and pushes sales up 40 percent.

Popular local restaurant Cocina Azul plans to open its third location by Cinco de Mayo, as reported by Business First.

Mother’s Day is also a busy time for local eateries. The celebration is ranked No. 87 out of all 365 days, pushing New Mexico restaurant sales up 28 percent. Nationally, Mother’s Day takes first place as the best revenue day of the year, increasing sales by 64 percent. On average, two out of five local eateries report this holiday as their best day of the year.

In March, Womply identified St. Patrick’s Day as the best holiday of the year for small, local restaurants in New Mexico, ranking it No. 16 for revenue out of all 365 days.

According to the New Mexico Restaurant Association, restaurants in the state generate $3.2 billion in annual sales and employ more than 85,000 New Mexicans.
