Women Who Build 2017 conference set for Sept. 22
Women Who Build 2017 is a business building workshop for women business owners and women who have ever dreamed about starting a business. The collaborative business-building workshop, organized by the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, Provo City, Mountainland Association of Governments, Orem City, and Brigham Young University’s Rollins Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology, is Sept. 22 at Zions Bank Rock Canyon Room, 180 N. University Ave., Provo.
Attendees will work with a team and mentors to build a business in a day with instruction from local business professors. The Business Building sessions will be divided up into 10 teams of five people. The day will end with a pitch competition, lunch, and a keynote address from Chatbooks co-founder Vanessa Quigley.

Coconut Cove amusement center opens in Vineyard
Coconut Cove, a new indoor playground and family amusement center opened recently in Vineyard. The tri-level, 4,000-square-foot playground is designed for children up to age 12, and is the first of its kind in Utah.
Peter and Kira Jay built Coconut Cove. Kira Jay came up with the idea after taking their children to an indoor playground in another state.
“The kids were having so much fun. There wasn’t a playground like this where we live, and I thought it would do well in Utah,” she said. Finding fun places in the winter was a motivating factor. “We needed to get out of the house and do something active. It was too cold to play outside. Most of the entertainment centers targeted teens or pre-teens rather than small children. Some facilities were not sufficiently safe, clean, or sanitary. Some charged adults just to sit and watch. There wasn’t any place to take our kids to let them have some active play time at an affordable price.”
The playground includes ball cannons, a ball fountain, spiral slides, giant racing wavy slides, small trampolines, crawl tunnels, a hall of mirrors, bridges, stepping stones and birthday party rooms made out of large interlocking blocks. According to Peter Jay, the building includes a fixed, padded playground just for children, which is cleaned and sanitized every night.
