Cory Capoccia
Co-Founder, Chief Business Development Officer, & President
Cory joined Womply in 2011 and has played a role in building every aspect of the company. As President, he spends the majority of his time overseeing the strategy and execution of Womply’s partner channel, data, financial partnerships, and Womply Payments business line. Cory heads up Womply’s Lehi, Utah office and is a member of Womply’s Board of Directors.
As a Co-founder, Cory has helped shape Womply’s company strategy and culture, raised $50 million in investor capital, and recruited, onboarded, and developed hundreds of employees across offices in San Francisco and Lehi, Utah. Cory has also built and run the company’s partnerships, finance, people operations, and customer success functions, among others. His teams have been responsible for signing long-term agreements with and supporting 50+ partnerships with leading financial institutions in the U.S., adding tens of millions in recurring revenue and supporting over 500,000 small businesses with Womply software.
Cory brings more than 12 years of experience as a payments technology executive. Prior to joining Womply, Cory was part of the founding team of Verifi, a leading provider of end-to-end credit card payment acceptance and risk management solutions for large-scale businesses. While building Verifi from the ground up, Cory served in multiple roles spanning operations management, relationship management, business development, analytics, new product development, and sales. Cory was a key contributor to pioneering new technologies and strategies for Verifi and holds U.S. patent number 8275705.
Prior to joining Verifi, Cory worked in the financial services and consulting industries at Morgan Stanley, Himelsein Mandel (a boutique hedge fund), and Deloitte & Touche. Earlier in life, Cory’s family owned a small restaurant in Detroit and he worked at numerous small businesses across many categories (retail, automotive, etc.) where each struggled to keep pace with technology and engage with their customers.
Cory graduated with honors from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a bachelor’s degree in business economics and accounting. When he isn’t chasing his two kids around, Cory can be found climbing and descending mountains on mountain bikes, motorcycles, or skis. He is also an active board member with organizations such as the San Francisco chapter of the Young President’s Organization and the Electronic Transaction Association, a contributing writer to Forbes.com, as well as an active advisor to a number of startups.
